This is the glossary of terms from the old Avalon website. I am posting it here because the old Avalon website was taken down and the site is no longer accessible on the Internet Archive. I did not write this glossary; it is being archived here for reference only.

The Astral Planes
Layers of magical planes that are not part of the physical world. These include the Dream State and the Spirit World.

Capital of the Goblin Kingdom in the Fairy Realms. Home to Prince Lorren.
Circle of Protection
Magical mistwolf formation to aid and protect a pack mate walking the Spirit Trail.
Also refers to any group of magic users that form a protective ring for another.
Ancient spiritual tool used to help assure good dreams to those that sleep under them. A dreamcatcher is usually placed where the morning light can hit it. As you sleep all dreams from the spirit world have to pass through the dreamcatcher. Only good dreams can pass through the hole in the center while the bad dreams are caught in the webbing and are destroyed by the morning light. A dreamcatcher woven from strands of the magic web hangs over the Ravenswood portal to keep out harmful magic and let in good magic.

Powerful elemental creatures made of one of the four elements — earth, air, water, fire — who protect the magic of Aldenmor.
Magical world on the web closest to Avalon.
The term “fairy ring” comes from a superstition that mushrooms growing in a circle represent the path of dancing fairies. It has been used to describe a place where fairies come to sing and dance.
The Fairy Ring is also an outdoor amphitheater grown from trees and plants in the Fairy Kingdom, serving as a meeting place.
The Five Kingdoms
Kingdoms that make up the Fairy Realms — Fairy, Elf, Dwarf, Goblin and Troll.

Turquoise data crystal worn by Tweek, containing more facts, figures and maps than anyone will ever need.
Knight of the Circle
Chosen protectors of Avalon. Protectors of the Fairimentals. The “circle” refers to a ring of powerful stones around the Isle of Avalon.
User of magic who has at least one magic jewel and usually at least one bonded animal.
Level 1 mage: tuned jewel and bonded animal
Level 2 mage: bonded paladin, elemental creature
Level 3 mage: stay tuned
Beautiful glade that is the heart of Ravenswood’s magic.
Mage who has completed all levels of training or who is accomplished in a specific area of magic.
Intricate magical grid that distributes the magic of Avalon to all physical worlds contained in its delicate balance.
A hub or connecting point along the web containing many portals.
Vast and empty world accessed through the Fairy Realms, used as a prison because no portals lead there.
Elemental creature bonded to a Level Two mage, a powerful protector that only materializes when its mage is in great need.
Animal hotel created and run by Emily, adjacent to the Stonehill Animal Hospital.
Magical doorways along the web that connect two distant places.
Mobile or traveling portal connects two points along the web. Usually opens at random along the web.
Gothic manor house on the Ravenswood Preserve.
Wildlife preserve operated by the mages, sanctuary to magical and non magical animals.
Ancient Indian totem shaped like a towering granite arrow, near the magic glade in Ravenswood. The tower points to the portal in a field in Ravenswood.
A rebellious magic user or rogue wizard who uses magic for her own gain. Solitary and spiteful. Also referred to as an Enchantress.
Using music and lyrics to amplify magic and create magic spells.
The ghosts of every mistwolf who ever lived, and the source of the pack’s magic and knowledge of the past.
Ancient mistwolf path in the spirit world run by the spirit pack.
The spirit trail connects all mistwolves to their past and to the home of all magic, Avalon.
A mystical plane containing the spirit trail. Mistwolves and world walkers are the only living creatures who can go there.
School where young unicorns learn how to use their magic, run the magic web and maintain the magic along the web. Located on Dalriada.
A person, male or female, who is especially skilled in broad fields of magical activity. Wizards do not need jewels or magical animals although both always help make lasting and strong magic.
Extremely rare mage ability – to walk directly into the Astral planes and enter the dream or spirit worlds.
