Avalon: Web of Magic Animated Series in the Works

[Special thanks to Bella for bringing this to my attention!]

There are two things Avalon: Web of Magic fans have been eagerly anticipating: Shadow Warrior and the film adaptation of the series. After three years of silence on both projects, we finally have an update.

According to the voyager.world Instagram account, Film.UA Animagrad is producing an Avalon: Web of Magic animated series:

Some information gleaned from image comments:

  • it will be “Pixar meets Miyazaki in style”
  • an animated demo exists
  • the official site is being redesigned, as are the social media accounts
  • no broadcast network secured yet, but they are shooting for a September release

There’s also some production art of the mages and the Dark Sorceress. I’ve added a selection below:

I’ve always thought that Avalon would work best as an animated series, just like Jewel Riders, the cartoon that inspired it. In a way, things have gone full circle. (See what I did there?)

I’ll keep you posted on any new Avalon animated series developments. For now, I’ll leave you with this image of the production team doing their research.

    1. I was surprised that they were watching Jewel Riders for research, too! It looks like they’re watching “The One Jewel” on YouTube.

I’d love to get a closer look at the storyboards and concept art in that room, though…

  1. I like this more than a live-action movie. My hopes are considerably higher now. Looking forward to seeing how the series turns out!
