And now things finally start to get interesting.
Seriously, everything in this series improves significantly after this book. Against the Tide starts to break the series’ predictable patterns. No more tutorial levels! More character development! Epic backstory reveals for the Designated Villains! The real Big Bads actually doing horrible things! Our Protagonists fighting among each other while they try to figure out who the mole is!
Hopefully, I’ll be back to business as usual, happily recapping the book and poking fun at it as I go along.
This installment is by Tui T. Sutherland, author of the Wings of Fire series. I started reading it recently, and it is, hands down, one of my favorite kid-lit series. Go check it out.
This cover seems promising. We got Abeke and Uraza stalking a shark in a jungle. I don’t remember if they actually fight sharks in this book, though. But hey, I’d look forward to recapping that battle.
What to look forward to in this book:
- Adventures with the not!Maori in not!Polynesia / not!New Zealand!
- Some revelations about the first global war!
- That Epic Spoiler that we accidentally spoiled in the comments a few months ago!
- Another Little Miss Only Appearing in This Book!
- Another McGuffin!
Next time: Two Godlike Animals converse about stuff.
